Covid 19 Update
Sunday 22nd March
These are unprecedented times. We all have a responsibility to consider not just ourselves but to the people of our country, the local community and people living on this park.
We are having to make decisions and take actions which were unimaginable a few weeks ago.
We are following the Government’s guidance and closing the touring park with immediate effect to protect you and our wider society.
All bookings that are currently made will be contacted as soon as possible and advised not to come to the park and hope they will accept the offer of moving deposits paid to an alternative date when the crisis is over.
Over the last 24 hours, there has been an increasing and understandable concern in local communities towards the owners of second homes and caravans, as well as holiday visitors. The government’s clear guidance is that there must be no unnecessary or non-essential travel. So for the sake of the whole country but in particular our residents living at Finchale we are making this very difficult decision now.
The shop and car park is currently open but ask that as many customers as possible pay via contactless card payment (or use the token machine to purchase a car park token for £3).The park cafe is currently closed
This is obviously a very fluid situation and appreciate your understanding at this difficult time.
Set in the heart of the beautiful County Durham countryside within a meander of the river Wear this adult only award winning touring park is the perfect way to get away from it all! The park is perfectly positioned to explore all that this beautiful county has to offer, is within easy reach of the historic city of Durham and all of its amenities yet its setting beside the ruins of a Benedictine priory offer peace and tranquillity.
We Are Open All Year

Welcome to Finchale Abbey
Finchale Abbey Farm has been in the family since 1951 when our parents bought the farm with a small field for holiday caravans. They worked the farm as a dairy farm and grew the touring park into what we have today. With the next two generations already working on the park we hope it will be in the family for many years to come!
There have been many changes around the park over the years from turning Adult only in 2006 to the development of the fully residential park home village which started in 2005 and more recently the transformation of our parents historic farmhouse into a luxury self catering apartment.
Please look around our site to find out more and if you would like to you can contact us by phone on 0191 3866528, email us at or even better pop in for a visit.
We look forward to welcoming you to Finchale soon.
