Covid 19 Update
We are thrilled that we can reopen the touring park from the 4th July, bookings are being taken now for stays after this date. We have taken the decision to take our opening slowly to ensure that everyone stays safe. On opening we will not be offering the communal toilet and shower block (water and disposal facilities will be available.) so initially only units that have their own facilities can come to stay with us. We have restricted the number of plots available to book to make it easier to social distance while on the park. We are putting procedures in place for contact free check-in.
The self catering apartment is also available to book now.
The car park and picnic field is open, we encourage you to bring £3 in cash for your car park token. The park shop is open for take away drinks, food and ice-cream, and we would encourage all customers to use contactless card payments if possible (you can purchase your carpark token via contactless card payment here too.) We have been advised to remove picnic benches for the time being and to ensure that we encourage all visitors to maintain social distancing. We are also pleased to welcome fishermen back to the river at this time.
The Cafe, Park Toilets and Touring Park are currently closed.
This is obviously a very fluid situation and appreciate your understanding at this difficult time.
Set in the heart of the beautiful County Durham countryside within a meander of the river Wear this adult only award winning touring park is the perfect way to get away from it all! The park is perfectly positioned to explore all that this beautiful county has to offer, is within easy reach of the historic city of Durham and all of its amenities yet its setting beside the ruins of a Benedictine priory offer peace and tranquillity.

Welcome to Finchale Abbey
Finchale Abbey Farm has been in the family since 1951 when our parents bought the farm with a small field for holiday caravans. They worked the farm as a dairy farm and grew the touring park into what we have today. With the next two generations already working on the park we hope it will be in the family for many years to come!
There have been many changes around the park over the years from turning Adult only in 2006 to the development of the fully residential park home village which started in 2005 and more recently the transformation of our parents historic farmhouse into a luxury self catering apartment.
Please look around our site to find out more and if you would like to you can contact us by phone on 0191 3866528, email us at or even better pop in for a visit.
We look forward to welcoming you to Finchale soon.
