Development Phase One
The first phase
of the development named 'St Godric's Walk was completed in February 2005. The
first forty static vans were removed, landscaping and full services were
introduced and all seventeen plots on phase one have been sold.
The outlined
plan below shows the position of the first seventeen units. The plan shows the
names of our residents or prospective residents as only ten of the seventeen
plots already have lodges on site. Plans for the second phase can be seen on
the phase two pages.

The
following pictures track the progress of the work that was completed in March
2005 and show how the village was developed.

1st
October 2004.
Work
started, the old caravans were removed in preparation for the landscaping and
foundation laying to begin.

Several
large trees on the site had to be removed when it was discovered that they were
hollow and unsafe.

End
of the first week of work, large changes can already be seen.

Mr
and Mrs Storey who were to become our first residents on the park in March 2005
were excited to see the work so far and couldn’t wait to move onto the
park.

The
contractors who have developed the park for us 'Metcalfe's' of Penrith did a
first rate job! The plots took shape quickly and mains services were installed.
Brian, Shaun the site manager, Andy the on site Supervisor and the gang, Bry,
Jamie and Kim kept to a tight schedule although the weather didn’t help.

This
picture shows the field drains being laid.

After
another busy week mains services, gas, electricity, water and also telephone
cables were laid.

After
the ground was prepared the bases were marked out showing where each individual
home will stand.

To
provide firm foundations for the homes bases were reinforced with a steel
framework.

The
frames were then covered in concrete to form the platform onto which the homes
will stand.

The
reed bed was fully lined and prepared ready for the reeds, this
‘polishes' the water from the sewerage system after it comes from the
treatment plant before it is returned to the stream and forms an important part
of this eco-friendly system.

The
large treatment plant was buried underground to complete the sewerage system
which was supplied by

Shaun
as site manager and Andy on-site supervisor and the gang Bry, Jamie, Alan and
Kim all worked hard throughout the development and were completing three bases
a day.

A
'rock armour' wall was built to stop any movement of soil on the slopes around
the park.

The
hardcore road base was laid to give access to individual bases.

The
gas tanks were positioned in the field behind the development to provide piped
gas to all homes. These tanks were later buried for safety issues and also to
enhance the look of the park.

The
parking bays were the first areas to get the topcoat of tarmac followed by the
roads themselves.

Is anyone else thinking Auf Wiedersehen
Pet?
Shaun,
Andy, Bry, Jamie, Alan and Kim from Metcalfe’s finished the ground work
on phase one of the development in February 2005, a little behind schedule but
to a very high standard which we were very pleased with.
Information
showing the first homes arriving onto the park can be seen on the New Homes page.
